Carers are usually family members or friends and do not always think of themselves as a carer. In caring for someone else, often the carers put their own needs aside. The carer needs to stay well so they can continue to care for their husband, wife, son, daughter, neighbour or friend.
HACC services are designed to support the invaluable work that carers do. A range of services to support carers can be found under Service types or at How to get a service for further information about eligibility and tailoring services to carer needs.
The Eastern Sydney Carer Information Service is a free service that can:
- Connect the carer to aged and disability support services in Eastern Sydney
- Provide individual support tailored to meet individual needs
- Link to other carers who are dealing with the same issues, through carer groups
- Identify any financial subsidies
- Let carers know the program activities in respite day centres
- Link carers to training and information sessions
For further information contact the Carer Information Officer on 9302 3600 or to view other useful contacts for carers go to the Carers section on the links page.
