There are several different types of HACC services, each providing a specialist service to meet a particular type of need, such as nursing, meals or transport. Go to Service types for the full list. Some HACC services relate especially to frail aged people, some to people with disabilities or their carers. There are specialist services for people from different cultures or speaking different languages and for Aboriginal people.
Since every individual person using HACC services has different needs, they will have a different mix of services. Once a HACC service is contacted and an initial assessment made, other services may be contacted to provide their service. This happens during the first assessment, which is why it is important.
HACC services will provide information up front about their organisation, the services they provide, the areas that they cover and any fees. For more information about service quality go to Service quality.
HACC services are provided by many different organisations, such as local community organisations, local councils, government departments, charities, churches and some private operators. They are all connected and co-operate to provide for a person's various needs.
